My Story
Hello, my name is Ekin Aygen!
I’ve always been a big dreamer—sometimes maybe too big—but that’s just who I am. I’m a determined leader, organizer, and advocate for those who need it most. When I think about Heart-2-Heart, those are the words I use to describe myself.
It all started in ninth grade, when I had a vision to start a school club dedicated to helping children in need. While the school club didn’t quite take off, it was a turning point that ultimately led me to establish Heart-2-Heart Charity Inc. in 2018, with the unwavering support of my parents.
Heart-2-Heart has given me the chance to turn my dream into reality—helping those in North Carolina who are often overlooked: the disenfranchised, marginalized, and those who need a helping hand the most.
Thanks to the support of friends, classmates, and my family, we’ve been able to serve local communities and partner with other inspiring organizations that share our mission. I’m proud to say that Heart-2-Heart reflects the spirit of our entire community.
I dream that one day I’ll inspire others—whether they are like me or even younger—to use their voices and actions to make a difference. A difference, no matter how big or small, that can positively impact lives everywhere.
Watching Heart-2-Heart grow into something bigger than I ever imagined has been an incredible experience. The smiles of young children, elders, and those who are unhoused fill my heart with joy. Those smiles are the ultimate reminder of what we’ve built and the difference we’ve made.
